What you see of an electrical job at your Hampton Park house is the plate on the wall. Only a tester can say whether the two wires behind it went back the right way round. Maroondah Electrical & Data has wired, tested and certified that work since 1998, on properties across Melbourne's south-east, under electrical contractor licence REC 27611. The quote costs nothing, and the price goes in writing at the property, once an electrician has the point or the board open. Ring 03 9738 2000 to book the visit that quote comes from.

Say you’ve had extra points put in, a light moved, or a new appliance connected. Everything switches on afterwards and the plates finish flush on the wall. That proves the connections are making contact. It doesn’t prove the two wires behind them went back where they belong.
The active and the neutral do different jobs. Every switch, fuse and internal cut-off inside an appliance treats the active as the wire that breaks. Swap the pair at a socket and whatever you plug in still runs perfectly well. Its own switch now opens the neutral instead, so the appliance can read as off at the front and stay live inside. A light switch wired into the neutral behaves that way too: the globe goes out, and the fitting above it stays live.
None of that shows itself in use. Turning things on and off will not find it, and neither will looking at the work. Our electrician finds it with a tester at the point, and the certificate at the end of a licensed job records that test.
The domestic list at a Hampton Park address runs to:
A licence settles who may do the work. Insurance settles what happens if something goes wrong. Maroondah Electrical & Data carries both, and has done since 1998. The business is family-owned, and the three founders are the owners today: Glenn Carmody, Dean Carmody, Stuart Lancaster.
Our electrical contractor licence is REC 27611, and the electrician who knocks on your Hampton Park door holds a personal licence too. The cover we hold runs across the data work as well as the wiring. Ask the office for a current certificate of currency on 03 9738 2000.
One address carries all of that: 6 Royan Place, Bayswater North, Victoria 3153, and the workshop shares it with the office. Hampton Park belongs to the City of Casey, and our electrician makes the drive down from Bayswater North to reach it. The about us page puts the ownership and the certifications in one place, and the company’s own count of finished projects has passed 50,000.
Ask for a fixed internet or phone point in a room that has never had one. What you’re asking for is a cable run, plus a socket terminated at each end. That cable holds eight wires in four twisted pairs. Keeping each pair together along the run is what holds the signal steady.
Terminate a socket with the wires out of order and the connection still comes up. It just runs slower than it should, or it drops out when the room is busy. Nothing on the wall plate says so, which is the trouble on the power side too.
Data cabling carries a licence of its own, and the electricians on your power run it, terminate it and check it. Computer data cabling goes in on one booking with the wiring, along with phone and internet points, and a telephone system where the address is a business.
While a wall or a ceiling stands open for the electrical work, a cable has a clear path through it. That stops being true the moment the plaster goes back on.
Look after several properties and the paperwork is the part that slips. Those addresses are rarely neighbours, one near Hampton Park Shopping Centre and the next over towards River Gum Creek Reserve. One contractor across all of them means one place to look.
What lands in that record: alarms tested and dated, safety switches proved at each board, and test and tagging on the portable gear. Emergency and exit lighting joins it at a shop or a workshop, along with maintenance booked to an interval you choose. When the next property on the list wants an electrician in Narre Warren, it’s one phone number and one licence covering both.
The commercial and industrial side runs the heavier end of that list: switchboards, power upgrades and three-phase power, plus rough-in and fit-off work while a tenancy comes together. A fitout is the one moment when our electrician can set the power and the cabling out together, before anything closes in.
Keep it, and read the licence number on it first. Everything this business finishes goes in under REC 27611, so that's the number the certificate should carry. Ask any contractor for their number first, so you can check the certificate against it.
So phone 03 9738 2000 with the Hampton Park address, and our electrician brings the tester. Our contact page has a form if you'd rather write.
