Maroondah Electrical Data Solar Vic

Electrician Knoxfield

Your own wiring stops somewhere on a Knoxfield block, and it isn't where your title says. Where a 1980s Knoxfield house has come down and townhouses have gone up, a shared driveway light runs off one dwelling's board. Maroondah Electrical & Data has read that line on Knoxfield properties, and on jobs right through Melbourne's east, since 1998 under electrical contractor licence REC 27611. Whoever owns that board pays for the repair. Our electricians drive out to Knoxfield from the workshop at Bayswater North. Which side of that line your job falls on decides what it involves, so an electrician prices the work standing at your property and the quote costs you nothing. Book that visit on 03 9738 2000.

What Knoxfield Locals Say About Our Electrical Services

review quote

We just want to say how happy we are with the work you did to install the 4 reverse cycle air conditioners. As business owners employing 20 staff, we appreciate good service. Dean was great, arriving on time a day after we settled. He was very clear and transparent on the outcome. The installers were all very nice people and had great attention to detail. The electrician even fixed a loose tile on our roof!

Dean mentioned that one unit would have to have an internal duct, but the installer hid that and also re-routed another to be more aesthetically pleasing. Something they didn’t have to do, but the result was excellent. All trades collected every bit of rubbish and left our place perfect. We give 100% for price, neatness, attention to detail, communication, friendliness, and a great installation.

Turning Off Your Knoxfield Board Does Not Turn Off Theirs

Your dwelling has its own main switch and its own board, separate from the one next door. Throw yours off and the neighbour’s power stays on.

What falls between the two catches people out. A light over the shared drive, a gate motor, a power point in the common garage: each one feeds off a single dwelling unless it has its own supply. Whoever that dwelling belongs to can switch the fitting off without ever meaning to.

So our electrician works the boards one circuit at a time and watches which fitting drops out. Until that reads clearly, nobody can say whose repair it is.

Your cabling follows that boundary too. Phone and internet points and computer data cabling inside your own walls belong to your installation, so our electrician quotes them beside the power.

A Second Visit Is a Short Trip for Maroondah Electrical & Data

Maroondah Electrical & Data has been a family business since 1998, and three people put their names to it at the start: Glenn Carmody, Dean Carmody, Stuart Lancaster. Since then the tally we keep ourselves has passed 50,000 finished projects. Nobody turns up at a Knoxfield address without a current licence and their own insurance. Electrical contractor licence REC 27611 covers whatever our electrician touches at either board on the block.

Every Knoxfield job starts at one building: 6 Royan Place, Bayswater North, Victoria 3153, where the workshop shares a roof with the office. The drive to Knoxfield runs about five kilometres, the shortest trip we make to any suburb we cover. That difference turns up on the job that needs a second visit: a renovation done in stages, or a fitting that hasn’t come in yet.

About half our work arrives by referral. A Knoxfield call can start with a name a neighbour passed on, or with a household whose own job we did as an electrician in Rowville. Our about us page runs longer on the founders and the people who work with them.

Your 1980s Knoxfield House Is Staying, and So Is Its Switchboard

Not every Knoxfield block has changed hands, and plenty of the original detached houses are still standing. Electrical work on one of those arrives in pieces rather than all at once. A room converted here, downlights through the living areas there, a second bathroom later again, and each of those jobs left the board less room for the next.

Domestic work at a Knoxfield address covers:

  • Extra power points, downlights and ceiling fans where a converted room outgrew the wiring it inherited
  • A replacement switchboard, the power upgrade behind it, or three-phase power once the load asks for it
  • Rewiring, one circuit or the whole installation, with new smoke alarms and a safety assessment beside it
  • An EV charger, heat pump hot water or home automation, all three newer than the wiring they land on
  • Phone and internet points and computer data cabling, pulled in while the power work is open
  • Fault finding when a circuit drops out, or one point stops and the rest of the room carries on

More of those shared boundaries are coming. Development Victoria has around 400 new homes and enhanced wetlands planned for the former Knoxfield Research Institute site from early 2026. So both kinds of Knoxfield job will keep turning up on the one street.

A Knoxfield Workshop or Shopfront Runs Two Sets of Bookings

Trade from a Knoxfield address and the list changes shape. The suburb carries a fair amount of local employment alongside its housing, and plenty of the calls we take here come from premises. The work splits two ways:

  • Booked once: a new switchboard and the power upgrade behind it, three-phase power, rewiring, the rough-in before a refit closes up and the fit-off after it, and telephone systems
  • Booked again: emergency and exit lighting, test and tagging, and scheduled maintenance, each running to its own cycle

Asked on the Shared Drive, Answered at the Board

The light over our shared driveway has stopped working. Whose is it?

The light feeds off one dwelling's switchboard unless it has a supply of its own. Our electrician switches off one circuit at a time at each board and waits for the light to go out, which answers the supply and the repair together.

Our Knoxfield house is an original from the 1980s. Does it need rewiring?

A Knoxfield house of that vintage doesn't need rewiring on its age alone. Our electrician reads how the cable and its terminations have held up, then whether the board still carries what the household runs now. Plenty of these houses want a circuit or two, not the lot.

We've bought one of the new dwellings. What's worth asking about the wiring?

A new dwelling comes with whatever the build specified, so the useful question is which rooms have power and data points and which don't. Where a fresh cable can run in a dwelling that shares a wall is something our electrician reads at the property.

Our block is going through subdivision. When does an electrician come in?

Subdivision reaches the wiring earlier than people expect. Someone has to account for everything the original house feeds before anyone wires the new dwellings. That means what stays, what our electrician isolates, and what needs a supply of its own.

No wall or meter box shows you where one installation ends and the next begins. On a rebuilt Knoxfield block that boundary is the first thing worth pinning down, and everything after it is ordinary electrical work.

To settle that before anyone prices a repair, phone 03 9738 2000, or write the Knoxfield address and what stopped working into our contact page.
