Maroondah Electrical Data Solar Vic

Electrician Rowville

Your Rowville house needs one more power point, and in a four-bedroom house that is rarely one power point's worth of work. The socket itself takes minutes, and then the cable feeding it has to cross the roof space. So our electrician checks the route up there before anyone writes a price, at Rowville addresses and right across Melbourne's east. Maroondah Electrical & Data opened in 1998, holds electrical contractor licence REC 27611, and its workshop is about eight kilometres away. The look costs you nothing, and the number on the quote doesn't move once you have approved it. Ring 03 9738 2000 with the room and what you want in it.

What Rowville Locals Say About Our Electrical Services

review quote

We just want to say how happy we are with the work you did to install the 4 reverse cycle air conditioners. As business owners employing 20 staff, we appreciate good service. Dean was great, arriving on time a day after we settled. He was very clear and transparent on the outcome. The installers were all very nice people and had great attention to detail. The electrician even fixed a loose tile on our roof!

Dean mentioned that one unit would have to have an internal duct, but the installer hid that and also re-routed another to be more aesthetically pleasing. Something they didn’t have to do, but the result was excellent. All trades collected every bit of rubbish and left our place perfect. We give 100% for price, neatness, attention to detail, communication, friendliness, and a great installation.

The Roof Space Decides What Your Rowville Job Involves

Ask for a new power point, a run of downlights, a data outlet or a ceiling fan, and the work happens above your head rather than in front of you. Rowville is largely four- and five-bedroom houses, so a run through the roof space covers real distance. Newer townhouses and units give an electrician less of that space to work in, and at those addresses the route is the first thing to settle.

Two other things share the roof space with your new cable: the ceiling insulation, and the recessed fittings your downlights drop into.

A cable clipped in open air sheds heat into the air beside it. Bury that cable in bulk insulation and it can’t, so it safely carries less current than it would in the open. So the cable a new circuit needs depends on its route, not just on its length.

Recessed fittings work the other way round. They make heat of their own, and our electrician leaves them a clear gap. Insulation raked back over a fitting, or a cable buried where somebody once clipped it clear, is what the next person up there finds. On a Rowville job that person is often another electrician, called out for something else.

The domestic work behind a Rowville ceiling runs to:

  • Lighting through the house, downlight replacements, and ceiling fans indoors and over the deck
  • Extra power points and new circuits for a room the original wiring never planned on
  • A switchboard change, plus the extra supply behind it once the old board runs out of ways
  • Three-phase power once a single phase stops being enough
  • Rewiring that starts with the worst circuit and stops wherever you decide
  • Fault finding that follows a dead point back up into the roof space until the break shows itself
  • Smoke alarms, safety assessments, an EV charger and heat pump hot water, each measured against what the board carries now

Maroondah Electrical & Data Puts an Electrician in Your Roof Space

About eight kilometres of road separate a Rowville ceiling from our workshop and office at 6 Royan Place, Bayswater North, Victoria 3153. That is short enough to send an electrician out to look at the work first. The visit is free, on every job.

Behind that visit is a family business, and the ownership has read the same three names since 1998: Glenn Carmody, Dean Carmody, Stuart Lancaster. Nobody else counts our finished projects for us, and our own number has gone past 50,000. Ask the electrician on your ladder for a licence number and they’ll have one of their own, plus current insurance. Everything that happens above your ceiling runs under electrical contractor licence REC 27611.

Rowville is a City of Knox suburb, and our electricians already cover that stretch of Melbourne’s east, including as an electrician in Ferntree Gully. If you want the longer version, our about us page has it.

Four Bedrooms, and One of Them Is Not a Bedroom

A bedroom in your Rowville house might now be a study, a gym, or the room somebody works from all week. Its wiring is still bedroom wiring: one ceiling light, and a couple of points on the wall the desk is not against. Households here average 2.9 people in homes built with four and five bedrooms, so there is nearly always a room doing a job nobody wired it for.

A data outlet is one more cable through that roof space, so the moment to pull it is while somebody is up there with the ladder out. Our own licensed electricians quote and install phone and internet points, computer data cabling systems and telephone systems, and they run your power as well. That is why the name carries both halves.

Tenants occupy a small share of Rowville homes, so the owner living in the house is usually the one paying for this work, a project at a time. While a ceiling is open, our electrician can price the study point, the rumpus outlet and the outside light together, and you pick which ones go ahead now. Where an owner or an agent holds the keys, compliance takes over the list. They want the smoke alarms proved, the safety switches tested at the board, and a certificate to put in the file.

Trading From a Rowville Address Adds Dates to the List

Trade from a Rowville address and part of the electrical work turns up in the diary before anything goes wrong. Emergency and exit lighting needs proving on a schedule, and the appliances need test and tagging on another one. Neither waits for a breakdown. Put both on scheduled maintenance and the reminder stops being yours to carry.

The rest of a Rowville commercial job looks like this:

  • Lighting and power over a whole floor, and a switchboard with the ways to feed it
  • Rewiring for a refit, and the rough-in and fit-off that bracket it
  • Telephone systems and computer data cabling systems, priced with the electrical fitout rather than after it

What Rowville Households Ask Once the Ladder Comes Out

Does someone have to go into the roof space to add a power point?

In a single-storey Rowville house, that's the usual route. Where another floor takes up the space above, or the roof is too shallow to crawl through, our electrician runs the cable along that level instead. Sometimes it comes up from underneath. Either way our electrician settles it at the property, before anyone prices the job.

We are replacing the downlights right through the living area. What do you check while you're up there?

The clear gap the new fittings need, and the insulation and cabling nearest them. Old downlights throw off a lot of heat, and whoever insulated that ceiling did it for the fittings that were there at the time.

Can you price the lot if only part of it goes ahead now?

Yes. Our electrician walks the property, prices each item, and you decide which ones proceed. Interest free finance can cover the bigger items where the work is eligible.

Will the ceiling have to come down?

Rarely. Where the run goes through the roof space, the cable goes in without opening the ceiling at all, and the only holes are the ones your fittings cover. Where there is no way through, our electrician agrees the access points with you first, then puts the property back the way it was.

A Rowville house improved a project at a time keeps every one of those projects above the ceiling, and the next cable has to find room among them. That's the part worth a look before anyone quotes it.

Our electrician prices the route once they've seen it, so ring 03 9738 2000. Our contact page does the booking in writing.
