If you're standing in a dark Springvale house and only one appliance actually failed, the fault is the ordinary part. The switchboard decides how far the dark spreads. Maroondah Electrical & Data has been opening boards like that across Melbourne's south-east since 1998, under electrical contractor licence REC 27611. How many circuits share one safety switch decides how much of the house drops out at once, and whoever last worked on that board made that choice years ago. Our electrician reads yours at the property before pricing anything, and the quote costs you nothing. Ring 03 9738 2000 with the Springvale address.

A circuit breaker looks after one circuit. A safety switch normally covers several of them at once, and every circuit behind it shares whatever happens on any one. That’s why a faulty appliance in the laundry can leave the hallway lights, the fridge and the internet dead together, when all three run on circuits of their own.
Which circuits ended up together came down to a choice, and on plenty of boards whoever made it took the quickest way the enclosure allowed. The electrician who added that protection worked with an installation already in place, so the grouping suited the board rather than the household. None of that is unsafe. It does mean one small fault takes a lot of the property with it.
Spreading them out changes that: fewer circuits behind each device, and a device of its own for the circuit you cannot afford to lose. The next fault then drops its own circuit and leaves the rest running. Our electrician works out how far that can go once the cover comes off, because it turns on what’s mounted in there now and the room left beside it.
Across Springvale, a large share of occupants rent rather than own. That changes who has to approve the work: the tenant reports the fault, the owner or the agent approves the quote, and the job starts after that. Splitting the board does not shorten any of that. What it changes is that the rest of the house keeps running while the approval goes through.
Fault finding is the other half of the visit, because a switch that has tripped is telling you something on one of those circuits has gone wrong.
One contractor quotes a Springvale job and then carries it out, under electrical contractor licence REC 27611. Insurance and a personal licence travel with whoever we send, and the certificate closing the job carries the contractor number.
The business behind that number is family-owned and hasn’t changed hands since 1998. The three owners are the people who started it: Glenn Carmody, Dean Carmody, Stuart Lancaster. Between them they have taken the business past 50,000 completed projects, and the tally is our own.
Our trading address is 6 Royan Place, Bayswater North, Victoria 3153, and Springvale falls inside the area our electricians cover from it. Ownership, accreditations and the rest of the paperwork live on our about us page. Anything it doesn’t cover, 03 9738 2000 will.
Position settles a Springvale fitout before anything else does, in a shop as much as an office or a workshop. Where you put the counter and the workstations decides where the power, the network outlet and the phone point have to land. All three need a licensed electrician, and ours runs them in one visit.
A tenancy on Springvale Road tends to arrive with cable already run by whoever traded there before. Which of those outlets still go anywhere isn’t obvious from looking. Our electrician tests them, terminates the ones you plan to use, and proves those before you take the fitout on.
At a Springvale business address the work runs to:
If the move into Springvale is out of another premises in Melbourne’s south-east, the address you’re leaving tends to need work of its own before the keys go back. An electrician in Dandenong takes that end of the job. Springvale fitouts are one part of what our commercial and industrial page covers.
Not every Springvale call reaches the board. A dead power point. A light fitting that has given up. One more socket in a room that ran out of them.
Springvale belongs to the City of Greater Dandenong, a council that takes its name from another of the suburbs it covers. Open ground is scarce here, so outdoor jobs start at a building and run out from there. A carport light, a point at the garage, a supply to a shed: our electrician plans each one from the wall it leaves.
A Springvale household books our domestic and residential electricians for:
A rented Springvale property tends to go in as one booking: smoke alarms supplied, fitted and tested, then safety switches checked at the board and at the points. Our electrician reads the circuits those two leave untouched as well, and writes the result up as a safety assessment. All three fit inside one attendance.
A registered electrical contractor carries a number you can look up before anybody opens your board. Ours is REC 27611. That number belongs to the business rather than to any one person, so ask the electrician at your door for theirs as well.
A well-divided board is the one you never think about. The next fault takes its own circuit, and the rest of the Springvale house carries on.
Two answers start the free quote: what tripped, and what went dark with it. Ring 03 9738 2000, or leave both on our contact page.
